Mercy surgical oncologist Dr. Debashish Bose now sees patients at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD

In the news – (Hagerstown, MD) — Debashish Bose, MD, PhD, FACSMedical Director of the Center for Hepatobiliary Diseases of Mercy Medical Center, Mercy Health Services (MHS)as well as associate director of Surgical Oncology at Mercynow sees patients at Meritus Medical Center, an acute care hospital located in Hagerstown, MD, and part of the Meritus Health System.

Dr. Bose will see patients two days a month at Robinwood Professional Center and perform surgeries at Meritus Medical Center. He also cares for patients at Mercy Medical Center and sees patients at the Surgical Oncology Clinic at Weinberg Cancer Center in Mercy.

Dr. Bose is an expert in the treatment of diseases of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts and complex upper gastrointestinal surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Bose has sought to innovate, develop expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and launch a cutting-edge program in the use of Nanoknife in the treatment of cancer. The nanoknife is a tool used for the removal of tumors located near critical structures that would otherwise not be amenable to surgical removal.

Dr. Bose has been a principal investigator in studies related to the treatment and detection of pancreatic cancer. Dr. Bose earned an MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Bose pursued clinical fellowship as well as postgraduate training at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the leading cancer center in the United States. While there, Dr. Bose received the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award.
