The surgery department is sponsored by ArcelorMittal, Liberia’s largest post-war franchise.

Vice President Taylor took the opportunity to ask JFK management to find a sustainable mechanism for young Liberians who use illicit drugs (zogos) by providing them with rehabilitation with the aim of reducing the crime rate and improve Liberia’s workforce.

“We actually need a medical detox wing for our young people and that cannot be overlooked as we have thousands of young people on drugs and we have no way of dealing with it. So I think JFK has the space to create a medical drug rehabilitation center,” Vice President Taylor said.

ArcelorMittal’s Head of Government and Community Relations, Mr. Marcus Wleh, said in his remarks that the company’s association with JFK management has strengthened the company’s commitment to the healthcare industry in Liberia.

“I am proud to say that ArcelorMittal has been a leader in the private sector in supporting healthcare initiatives; ranging from the company’s efforts to combat Ebola and the COVID-19 crisis in Liberia,” he said.

According to him, AML’s support of JFK is in line with the company’s partnership mission; adding that a strong partnership with the private sector will help drive Liberia’s development.

He said the company is confident that every dollar spent by it to support JFK and other medical facilities in Liberia will be rewarded by the services rendered to the citizens of Liberia.

“If an AML employee who has aunts, uncles and other relatives will come to JFK and even the employee himself will also come to JFK, then, therefore, JFK is in our hearts and we will continue our support. at JFK as the number one referral hospital in the nation,” he added.
